DPQ were asked to produce a concept for a demonstration kitchen at Borough Market to coincide with the London Festival of Architecture. Our concept was to scavenge for discarded materials from the market and create a structure that was easy to build, especially for unskilled people.

The structure creates an impact while at the same time feeling part of the market. A lightweight mirror stretches the full length of the kitchen; its surface animated with the cookery taking place below. The towers created from wooden pallets act as beacons and a surface for menu boards and branding. Finally the stall is decorated with potted herbs.
